Putter’s Pike Mini Golf, located right along the Northwestern Turnpike, is a fantastic spot for some good old-fashioned fun. My wife and I stopped by recently and had an absolute blast. The course is well-designed, clean, and full of charming obstacles that make every hole interesting — and just competitive enough to keep things fun. Whether you’re looking for a casual date, family outing, or a place to bring friends, this is it. It’s great for all ages, and the friendly staff make you feel right at home. You can tell the owners put real care into creating a welcoming and entertaining experience. If you’re traveling through Mineral County or just looking for something different to do, make a stop at Putter’s Pike. You’ll leave with smiles, laughs, and maybe even bragging rights for the best putt of the day.
They “hit home”, in the most “Take Me Home Country Roads W.Va.” way. The golfing was fun, simple, sweet. It was a hot summer’s afternoon, but I had just been handed an “oasis in the desert”. Most of all, felt the most heartwarming, kindredness. Like the staff intuitively sensed I was a fiercely rooted West Virginian returning again to his beloved home land. I had more connections and affinity than golf. Wasn’t till later I told them I was down from Lanc. Co. Pa. for my 50th KHS class reunion. Touching slightly on who I might know. All of what I never get in 30 plus yrs. in Lanc. Co. The staff; so naturally engaging, that shore 'nuff caught my attention, uniquely genuine, and affecting folks. An “oasis in the desert”, for myself, that wife and daughters couldn’t understand. So it was short lived. I could have talked another half hr. at least. Detox, for the total being, was my trip. Where everything is beefed up as bigger and better, it’s simply not true. It’s a façade. “For all the rich folk, fancy houses, automobiles and dreams, If you’ve never heard the whippoorwill , you’re all the poorer it seems.” From a book I’m trying to churn out, Title Choices; THIS SIDE OF THE MOUNTAIN Whippoorwill Hills Appalachian Memoirs
Deceptively flat; actually had subtle terrain challenges that made it hard to get a hole-in-one. It would be nice to have signs about what the local attraction decorations were supposed to be. They could use more decorations as most courses were bland. Since it is new, it is still clean and well maintained. They did have concession foods available and plenty of seating.
